Biography

Miha Presker (born 1979, Maribor, Slovenia) is an interdisciplinary artist working across installation, photography, light, and interactive media. After studying mechanical engineering and computer science in Maribor, he continued his education at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he studied with Bernhard Leitner and later Erwin Wurm.

His practice combines technological systems with philosophical investigations into perception, projection, and space. Working at the intersection of the physical and the projected, Presker creates situations in which the viewer becomes aware of the mechanics of seeing — the thresholds at which observation becomes surveillance, presence becomes trace, and space becomes image.

His works have been exhibited internationally and include a long-term collaboration with artist Luiza Margan, with whom he won the OHO Group Award in 2007 for the installation Formication — judged by a panel including Zdenka Badovinac, director of Moderna galerija Ljubljana. The award brought a six-week residency at ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program) in New York, completed in 2008, where new work — including Tube — was shown at the residency's Open Studios.

More recently, his 2016 installation interActive Window, made with Maja Ozvaldic and Sasa Fabjan, used a Vienna shop window as a responsive threshold between street and interior.
